MUVE, Interactive Technologies, and Gaming in the Library

Libraries can utilize Multi-User Virtual Environments very easily, especially with children and teenagers. Minecraft clubs allow patrons to come together to play a game, often taking risks and learning how to build worlds. By playing games with friends, interests are built in patrons who might have none in gaming. The world of a videogame such as Minecraft allows users to take risks they might otherwise avoid, as the game is forgiving and worlds can be rebuilt if destruction occurs.

Using video game consoles such as the Xbox One and PS4 allows patrons to experience more stories and resources than they might with just movies and books. They are allowed to become a part of the story, a driving force behind the narrative.
